Smart Track – movement-based reporting

This guide explains how the Smart Track reporting type works in the Stella Care Administration System. Smart Track is developed as an alternative to time-based reporting and sends GPS positions based on the user’s movement. This provides improved battery life, especially for users who move less.

What is Smart Track?

Smart Track is a form of movement-based reporting. Instead of sending GPS positions at fixed time intervals, the device sends positions when the user is in motion.

Smart Track consists of two types of reporting:

  • Movement-based reporting: A GPS position is sent when the user has walked the specified distance.

  • Backup reporting: A GPS position is sent after a specified number of minutes if the user has not moved enough to trigger a movement-based position.

How to activate Smart Track reporting

  1. Go to Devices in the menu on the left in the Administration System.

  2. Find the device you want to change the reporting for.

  3. Click the gear icon (Settings).

  4. Under the Reporting section, select Step interval.

  5. Choose the distance that must be covered between each GPS position.

  6. Enter how many minutes should pass between each backup GPS position.

  7. Save the changes.

The changes take effect immediately.

Support and limitations

Smart Track reporting is only supported on the following devices:

  • Nova

  • Liva

Smart Track is not supported on:

  • Evi

  • Basic

  • Older GPS devices

Tips

  • Use Smart Track for users with low or varying activity to extend battery life.

  • Choose a shorter distance if you want more frequent positions during movement.

  • The more frequently GPS positions are sent, the more power the device consumes. Always consider the balance between reporting frequency and battery life.

Note

  • The device will still report continuous positions during Active Tracking when using Find GPS in the app.
